How do I use Dermisil for Pet Ringworm?
Dermisil for Pet Ringworm is very concentrated. The concentrate is added to shampoo along with water. The animal is washed with the shampoo for 5-7 minutes, washed off, dried and then treated again in 5-7 day intervals until the ringworm is eliminated, generally in two to four treatments.
Dermisil for Pet Ringworm is safe for all pet types. The FDA and EPA have approved the use of sulfur compounds for treating ringworm.
What you need to start treating your pet for ringworm:
- A 30ml bottle of Dermisil for Pet Ringworm liquid
- 2 ounces water
- 5 ounces of a shampoo of your choice (baby, pet, or human). We recommend our Dermisil Herbal Pet Shampoo.
- Plastic gloves
- Wash basin
- Toothbrush
Directions
- Pour 5 ounces of shampoo into a disposable container large enough to hold 8-10 ounces of fluid, along with 2 ounces of water.
- Add the Dermisil for Pet Ringworm to the shampoo and water mixture.
- Stir very well for two minutes.
- If the shampoo you are using is very thick, then you can add some more water to the mixture until it is a good consistency to apply to the animal.
- The additive will make the shampoo a yellow color.
- Do not be alarmed if your pet is a light color, and after the bath it is a yellow tinge. The yellow color will fade in a few hours.
- The mixture may stain clothing. Always wear gloves when applying the liquid as it has a drying effect on the skin.
Shampoo Bathing Instructions:
- Place the animal in a deep sink or wash basin and pre-wash the pet to remove oils and allow the treatment to penetrate the ringworm infestation before you apply the Dermisil for Pet Ringworm shampoo.
- Work the shampoo into the coat, adding a little water to help spread it through the hair.
- Apply it well throughout your pets hair being careful not to get the shampoo in the eyes or mouth of your pet.
- You want all hair and skin to be covered in the shampoo.
- Use your fingers to massage the shampoo into the inside and outside of the ears, around the mouth, under the chin.
- Use a toothbrush to scrub the shampoo around your pets nails and between the toes.
- Wash off the shampoo mixture after three minutes.
-
If your pet is badly infected with fungus, allow the mixture to sit on the coat for 5 minutes.
- Rinse lightly.Hold the head back during rinsing to avoid getting any of the shampoo into the eyes.
- Use a cloth to help remove any shampoo residue.
- Rinse your pet off. The rinse water will run clear, but your pet may still have a yellow tinge to its coat. This color disappears after a few hours.
Drying:
- Squeeze as much of the water from the coat with your hands as possible.
- Do not towel dry the animal. You want the coat to dry with a small amount of residue on the coat.
- Dry the inside of the ears and around the eyes.
- Blow dry your pet.
- Until the coat is dry, do not allow the animal to lick itself, if at all possible.
Bathing Routine
- Repeat same as above in 5 days.
- Repeat again in 5 days.
- Assess the skin condition after another 5 days and if necessary, repeat again.
- Continue to bathe the pet every 10-14 days until the skin is completely clear of scabs.
A Preventative Bath
Once the skin is clear of any lesions shampoo your animal once a month, rinsing completely and drying as you would normally as part of a maintenance program.
At the same time as you are bathing, you must clean the environment of the fungal spores witha product such as BenzaRid.
BenzaRid Spray- For wide-scale elimination of ringworm fungal spores and fungi sprayed on bedding, mattresses, carpet, rugs, furniture, flooring, etc.
Recommendations
- NEVER make the shampoo stronger than recommended. Stronger solutions may burn the skin.
- You must shampoo all areas of the animal including around the mouth, eyes, ears, and feet.
- The yellowness of the lime sulfur fades quickly so do not panic.
- Even if only one animal shows signs of ringworm lesions, all animals must be treated and the environment cleaned.
- Never "Pre-mix" the Dermisil for Pet Ringworm liquid and store for more than one month as it will lose its effectiveness on the shelf.
- NEVER apply Dermisil for Pet Ringworm liquid to humans, and kittens or puppies under two months of age.
- NEVER apply Dermisil for Pet Ringworm liquid to mucous membranes or to the eyes of any animal.
